Labneh with Almond Bread

Labneh with Almond Bread
by #Munira Kamal

Labneh is a yoghurt cheese. Greek yoghurt is strained yoghurt and labneh is extra strained yoghurt.

Labneh
Take one kg of good quality full cream yoghurt, add some salt ( I personally don't like to add). Take a colander and line it with several layers of cheesecloth. Place a dish under it to drain whey. Pour your yoghurt over it. And leave it inside the refrigerator for 24 to 48 hrs. The whey separates and you will get creamy strained yoghurt, this is your Labneh. Store in an airtight container. It is good for 10 days to 2 weeks. Enjoy with pita bread or normal bread. You can add herbs of your choice and olive oil too.

I highly recommend you guys to make it at home, not just because it is easy to make but it is much cheaper than the store bought one and free of preservatives. Use it just like cream cheese in sandwiches, can be added in gravies instead of yoghurt, and to make creamy Dahi baray.I saw many recipes of Labneh cake on the internet and going to try soon.
And don't discard your leftover whey. It is full of probiotics. It can be used simply in your roti dough, pizza dough, pancake dough, bread dough or in cupcakes batter too. Simply add this in your gravies and vegetables as a cooking liquid.
